Frequently Asked Questions About Our Bath Bombs
Share
Bath bombs are a fun way to bring more excitement to your bath, but did you know that these bath bombs also provide great additional benefits for your skin? Bubbly Belle has put together some common questions that we are frequently asked about our bath bombs, so you can better understand why we think our bath bombs are truly one-of-a-kind!!
What Is A Bath Bomb?
Bath bombs are palm-sized spheres or any shape for that matter that fizz and dissolve rapidly when tossed into bath water. Not only do they add a bit of fun to your bath but Bubbly Belle's are made with a variety of all-natural ingredients, designed to soothe, detox and help you relax.
How Do You Make Them?
We mix together citric acid and baking soda, then add a blend of essential oils, plant oils and an array of colors. Then the mixture gets hand-pressed into a mold at our warehouse in Sarasota, FL. Check out our bath bombs with rings at www.bubblybelle.com.
Are The Bath Bombs Fragrant?
Yes. If you are sensitive to scent, bath bombs might not be a good choice for you. Instead, you could try adding bath salts, which are a little less fragrant but still provide a great detoxifying and relaxing bath experience.
What Makes Them Fizz And Dissolve?
The reaction between baking soda and citric acid is responsible for the fizzing action. When the bath bomb touches water, the sodium bicarbonate in it reacts with the citric acid to release carbon dioxide gas. The bath bomb starts to break apart as this happens, releasing pigments, essential oils, and skin-conditioning plant oils.
Do Bath Bombs Expire?
Store your bath bombs in an airtight container or a ziplock bag in a cool dark place. This helps to protect the bath bomb from moisture and keeps it from drying out or losing scent. We always recommend using our products sooner rather than later. The longer you wait, the less effective the product will be unless it is stored well.
Can You Break Them Apart For 2?
You can try this, but from our experience they may break or crumble. The pieces will then dissolve faster than a whole bath bomb. Our bath bombs are designed for single use. To get the full benefits we recommend using the entire bomb in your bath. If you choose to take it out of the water half way through and keep it for later it might still fizz the next time you use it, but it won't be as effective.
Are The Ingredients Safe For The Bath Drain?
Yes! Our bath bombs are made with only the best ingredients that are good for you and our Earth.
Are Bath Bombs Gluten And Nut Free?
All of our bath bombs are gluten free, with the exception of Oatmeal and Honey.
We do not use peanuts in any of our products, but we are not a nut-free facility and therefore cannot 100% guarantee that our other products will not contain any traces of nuts or nut oils. With the major increase in nut allergies our goal is to be nut-free, so we have stopped formulating new products with nut oils and will gradually be phasing it out of any existing products. Please be aware that we do use shea butter and almond oil in a number of our products, so there may be a small chance of contamination in other products. Our bath bombs are made with cocoa butter, which may be considered a tree nut for some allergies.
Can Pregnant Women Use Bath Bombs?
Most of our bath bombs are safe to use after your first trimester, but we do advise limiting the use of lemongrass because this particular scent can be sensitizing during pregnancy. If you still have questions about using particular products during pregnancy, make sure you read our guidelines on pregnancy and essential oils. Always consult with your doctor just in case.
Are Bath Bombs Safe For Kids?
Our bath bombs are safe to use for children ages 2 and over. Our most gentle blends are Lavender & Chamomile, which are great scents for children to try.
Do Bath Bombs Irritate Your Skin?
Our bath bombs should not irritate your skin, but they should not be used with broken or irritated skin. It is important to note that reactions to scent blends and essential oils are possible, so make sure you know what works best for your skin.
Moisturize or Dry Out Your Skin?
Not only do our bath bombs smell great, they are also very nourishing for the skin. All of our bath bombs are made with coconut oil, which work to hydrate the skin.
Which Bath Bomb Is The Best For Dry Skin?
If you've got dry, itchy skin the Lavender bath bomb is perfect for you. We've packed it with key oils and herbs, both of which work together to provide deep moisture, and a natural antihistamine quality to soothe itch and irritation. We've also used coconut oil for the amazing ability to richly hydrate and leave skin moist and glowing.
Is Each Bath Bomb Specific To A Need?
The best bath bomb for you might be the one that smells the best. Otherwise, here is what we had in mind when we created each bath bomb:
- Lavender - works best for dry and itchy skin.
- Destress - helps soothe the senses of stress and anxiety.
- Zen - helps clear your breathing passages if you are feeling under the weather.
- Bliss - works to detoxify the skin and stimulate circulation to provide a healthy glow.
- Orange Coconut - brings an uplifting and energizing aromatherapeutic experience to your bath.
- Massage - both are great hydrating bath bombs that contain the anti-aging goodness of coconut oil.
- Heal - supports the immune system and packs an anti-bacterial punch.
Do Your Bath Bombs Change The Water Color?
Our Bliss bath bombs turn the water a little cloudy, while our colorful bath bombs will change the color of the water.
Do Your Bath Bombs Stain The Tub?
Baking soda itself does not leave a residue and is commonly used in cleaning. To make them more fun we've added colors, essential oils and organic plant oils which hydrate the skin wonderfully but can also cause the pigments and essential oil colors to cling to the tub wall. Colors will build up more with each use so it is best to wipe residue away each time to make cleaning easy. If not, regular cleaning products and a bit of scrubbing may be required.
Can You Use Them In A Jet Tub or Jacuzzi?
We don't test for that, you would have to check with your manufacturer regarding the ingredients allowed.
What Makes Bath Bombs Different From Bath Salts And Bubble Bath?
Bath bombs are made with baking soda or sodium bicarbonate, which provides a naturally high alkaline substance with a reputation for helping to remove toxins. Baking soda's natural sodium content and alkalinity give the bathwater a silky feel and baking soda can help with a number of common health issues. The plant oils and baking soda soothes and adds moisture to the skin. Along with the pleasant scent and essential oils, bath bombs can also create an aromatherapy effect.
Bubble baths are made with soap for cleansing the surface of the skin to help loosen dirt and oil. They make bubbles for a short time and dissolve while softening the water.
Bath salts are high in minerals and also work to help remove toxins, depending on what bath salts you are using. Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) soothe tired muscles by relieving the lactic acid build-up caused from muscle exertion and are therefore recommended for people with back pain, arthritis, muscle tension or spasms, and minor work and sports injuries. Pink Himalayan and sea salts help draw out toxins, deep cleanse the skin, and cleanse the body energetically.
